ATHENS - As we all know, it hasn’t been an ideal start for Dell McGee and the Georgia Bulldogs at running back for the 2023 class.

Georgia legacy Justice Haynes and 5-star Richard Young are both headed to Tuscaloosa to play for Nick Saban and the Tide, so the Bulldogs need to look elsewhere to find their running back for next year’s class.

One in-state back on Georgia’s radar is South Paulding standout, Jamarion Wilcox. While he doesn’t hold an offer from the Bulldogs, the senior told Dawg Post that he’s hearing more and more from the mighty in-state program.

“Dell McGee checks on me every morning”, Wilcox said.

The 5-foot-9 195-pounder is coming off an excellent junior season in 2021 where he rushed for 1,534 yards and 23 touchdowns. He started his senior season strong in South Paulding’s season opener last weekend, rushing for 267 yards and three touchdowns in a big win over Harrison.

He’s physical, runs hard, and knows how to break tackles. He gets tough yards, keeps the chains moving, and holds offers from Kentucky, N.C State, Colorado State, among others.

I plan on making it to a Georgia game this fall but don’t have any dates just yet”, Wilcox added. If he does earn an offer and takes an official visit at some point, Wilcox becomes a name to keep a close eye on.

Another running back to keep tabs on is UCLA commit Roderick Robinson‍. A tough, bruising back at 6-foot-1 230-pounds, Robinson ran through his opponent in week one last weekend, rushing just 8 times for 186 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Dawg Post expects Robinson to take an official visit to Georgia this fall, but there’s no set date or weekend confirmed at this time. If he does make it to Athens, look for McGee and the Bulldogs to push hard for a flip.
