ATHENS - It’s going to be a busy month of June for one of the top overall prospects in the country, and major Georgia Bulldog running back targets, Richard Young.
One of Dell McGee’s top running back targets, Young is a speedy but powerful back at 5-foot-11 200-pounder out of Lehigh Senior (FL).
Young, who is no stranger to Athens, will be back in the Classic City for his official visit the weekend of June 17th.
To start the month, Young will be in Norman for his official visit to Oklahoma the weekend of June 3rd. The following weekend, Young will be in Tuscaloosa for his official visit to Alabama. 5-star QB target Arch Manning also plans to be in Tuscaloosa that weekend, but the Crimson Tide appear to behind both Georgia and Texas for the elite quarterback.
The elite running back will take a mid-week official visit to Notre Dame from June 13-15 before heading to Georgia that weekend. Young’s final official visit is scheduled to Oregon the weekend of June 24th, and while there’s no official visit scheduled to Ohio State, many feel the Buckeyes are still in the running for the No. 2 RB prospect in the 2023 class.
As a junior last fall, the five-star rushed for 1,755 yards and 19 touchdowns. He can run through a defense between the tackles or use his speed to get to the edge and get up the field. He’s a five-star for a reason, and you can bet Kirby Smart and his staff will roll out the red carpet for Young and his family in mid June.
Right now, Dawg Post gives Alabama the slight lead for Young as he heads closer to his official visits next month.
Of course, the Bulldogs are also hard after in-state back Justice Haynes out of Buford (GA). The best overall running back prospect in Georgia the last two years, Haynes is a UGA legacy and one the staff doesn’t want to miss on. Haynes, along with five-star DB Caleb Downs and five-star QB Arch Manning, will take his official visit to Georgia the first weekend in June.
