5-star DL Target Jayden Wayne Sets UGA Official Visit

ATHENS - As we reported last week, Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are hosting some of their top 2023 targets in late May and early June for important official visits.
One top target who recently announced his plans to officially visit Georgia is five-star defensive end, Jayden Wayne. The top-ranked prospect in Washington, Wayne is an elite EDGE defender with size and speed at 6-foot-5 245-pounds, and he’ll be in Athens for his official visit the weekend of May 20th.
Wayne, who has visited Georgia numerous times in the last 12 months, is open to the thought of coming down South to play in the SEC. Wayne was in Athens with his parents for G-Day and spoke with Dawg Post shortly after that visit about the Georgia staff and why they’re standing out in his recruitment.
“Coach Scott is really cool”, Wayne said. “He's always got a lot of good energy. Coach Chid was really cool, too. He’s young but played in the NFL so he has a lot of experience.”
“I can come there (UGA) and get developed and have a chance to get drafted to be NFL ready”, Wayne added. “The brotherhood is real strong. They always have the top defense in the country.”
Right now, sources tell Dawg Post that it could come down to Georgia and Alabama in the end for the big-time defender.
Another defender taking his official visit that same weekend is four-star defensive tackle Sydir Mitchell Jr.. Another massive interior defensive lineman at 6-foot-5 335-pounds, Mitchell Jr is a fast rising defender and plays a position of need for assistant Tray Scott and the Bulldogs in the 2023 class. Mitchell was in Athens for a visit in late March and sources say Georgia has been one of the teams trending in his recruitment over the last several weeks.
