ATHENS - Georgia Bulldogs defensive back Lewis Cine was drafted 32 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Vikings, who have +4000 odds to win the Super Bowl next season according to FanDuel.

The former four-star prospect was a part of the Georgia Bulldogs 2021 national championship. Cine was an AP 1st team All-SEC selection in 2021. He ended his career at UGA with 145 tackles, two interceptions and 16 passes defended.

Most analysts predicted Cine would be a late first round or early second round selection.

Cine picked Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs over Florida, Texas and Michigan. Cine ended 2021 as Georgia’s No. 1 tackler.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper talked about Cine’s ability to play multiple positions while he was in Silver Britches.

“Cine played safety, nickel corner, wide corner and linebacker for the national champs last season. He also ran a 4.37-second 40-yard dash at the combine,” Kiper remarked.

The Sporting News’ Vinnie Iyer called Cine “intimidating.”

“Cine is an intimidating hard-hitter who cleans up vs. the run and doesn’t get enough credit for his pass coverage skills.”

Dawg Post’s Matt DeBary, who covered Cine from his prep days in Texas, said that the defensive back was great at defending the run.

“Cine was a reliable defender his entire career and was excellent coming downhill and helping stop the run. He was one of the top run-defending safeties in the conference and left many bruises during his career in Athens,” DeBary said. “Cine was a top priority for the Georgia staff in the 2019 class, committing to Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs over Florida, Michigan, Penn State, and Texas on October 10, 2018.”

Cine ended his career being named as the Defensive MVP of the Georgia’s CFP Championship Game victory over Alabama. In the Dawgs’ win Cine made seven tackles, one tackle for loss and added a pass breakup.
