ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs lost a commitment on Tuesday.
Kayin Lee, a defensive back from Cedar Grove, announced on social media that he was no longer committed to the Bulldogs. He said he would still consider UGA moving forward.
“After talks with my family I’ve decided to decommit from the University of Georgia,” Lee wrote. “I know that God will show me where to go, and where my future will land me.”
The move wasn’t surprising for Dawg Post’s Matt DeBary, who told Dawg Post members days ago that Lee could possibly take this action.
“Wouldn't surprise me at all to see Kayin Lee open things up down the road,” DeBary wrote. “He's seems solid at the moment, but it's still very early for guys in the 2023 class. Just takes a couple visits elsewhere to get him re-thinking things.”
DeBary added that Lee’s move happened “sooner than I thought.”
“There are plenty of really good cornerbacks in the 2023 class,” DeBary said of the landscape. “Georgia will be perfectly fine in the big picture."
