Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs wanted to end Signing Day with a bang, and that’s exactly what happened at five-star EDGE defender Marvin Jones Jr. has signed with Georgia over Alabama, FSU, USC, among others. There’s still time left to add four-star linebacker Shemar James, but landing Jones Jr was one of Georgia’s biggest prirorites coming into Signing Day.
The elite pass-rusher from American Heritage is one of the top overall prospects in the country and took in Athens this past weekend on an official visit. Dawg Post was told the Georgia staff rolled out the red carpet for Jones Jr and his mother during the visit, and the staff ended up earning his signature today.

What are the Bulldogs getting in Jones Jr?
An elite pass-rusher with an ideal frame and explosiveness.
You can’t teach 6-foot-5 with a long wingspan, and that’s what Jones Jr. will bring to Athens. He already looks the part of an SEC pass rusher and showed he can get to the QB against some of the top defenses in Florida.
He has quick, violent hands that helps him get off blocks with ease. He bends well around the edge, knows how to tackle, but his initial quickness and get-off is why he’s an elite EDGE defender. He’s big and strong enough to handle himself on the edge as a run defender, but he’s a big-play waiting to happen when he gets after the passer.
He looks the part physically, and he absolutely has the film to back up his high ranking. The Bulldogs needed day-one pass rushers in this cycle, and they’ve landed one of the best in Jones Jr.
Jones Jr is ranked as the No. 2 EDGE defender in the county, the No. 4 prospect in Florida, and the No. 22 overall prospect in the 2022 class.
