ATHENS - Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs remained the No. 1 team in the College Football Playoff Top 25 Tuesday night, but there was movement in the top ten.
The Bulldogs continued their winning ways over the weekend. This time with a blowout win over Tennessee. The Dawgs are not expected to be tested this Saturday against Charleston Southern in Athens.
This weeks marks the sixth week in a row the Bulldogs are ranked in the polls as the No. 1 team in the country. That’s the longest stretch of being the top team in the land in the last 41 seasons.
Not much is set to happen this weekend in college football outside of Michigan State’s visit to Ohio State. Alabama’s home date with Arkansas and Oregon’s trip to Utah. Meanwhile, Georgia Tech travels to Notre Dame ahead of their matchup against the Dawgs two days after Thanksgiving.
On Monday, Kirby Smart said he’s been impressed with the Bulldogs’ senior class, which will play a home game for the final time on Saturday.
“They've been through a lot,” he said. “They’ve had some ups and downs. High quality leaders. Seniors is a loose term right now, because who is a senior? Is it the fourth year, the fifth year or the redshirt juniors? They're just all over the place, but the group that sits in the front of this team meeting everyday is tremendous in terms of what they've meant to Georgia, how they've approached their work, and the Dawgs For Pups. A lot of those seniors have given back to their community. They don't know the mark they're leaving right now, but they'll look back one day and be really proud of what they've been able to do here at Georgia during their tenure. There's a really good group of them. I'm really proud of the way they've pushed through the COVID-19 year and that was their junior year, most of them. They've done a tremendous job."
