It may not be recruiting season for Dan Mullen and the Gators, but recruiting season never stops for Kirby Smart as he lands another commitment in 2022 class.
Just weeks after de-committing from Florida, big-time four-star CB Julian Humphrey has decided to “Commit to the G” and play for the Georgia Bulldogs over the Gators, Aggies, and LSU Tigers.
Kirby Smart is absolutely DESTROYING Dan Mullen on the recruiting trail and has been for a while. His team also dominated Mullen’s in Jacksonville last month as the No. 1 ranked Bulldogs defeated the Gators 34-7.
But today’s news is about Humphrey. The long, speedy cornerback at 6-foot-1 185-pounds is one of the top overall defensive backs in Texas. The Houston native had been committed to Florida since May 27th, but an official visit to Georgia the weekend of October 1st really put the Bulldogs towards the top of his list.
After watching the Gators defense closely all fall, Humphrey decided to quickly make a change of plans, decommitting from Florida on October 25th. It didn’t take long for the Houston native to save his spot in Smart's 2022 class.

So what will Humphrey bring to Athens?
Speed and length.
Humphrey looks the part of an SEC defensive back and has the length and measurables and Kirby Smart loves to have on the outside. He closes well on receivers and plays the ball really well in the air. He shows smooth hips and can change directions and close in a hurry.
There aren't many who can create separation from Humphrey. He has the speed and length, but he’s also a technician. He has great footwork and has a knack for staying right on his receivers’ hip. He's excellent in man coverage and has great instincts in zone coverage as well. His stock has been rising all season and on film it's easy to see why.
In the end, Humphrey’s speed is what sets him apart from other cornerbacks in this class. He’s one of the fastest prospects in Texas and was clocked at 4.38 in the 40-yard dash at The Opening this past summer.
Where do the Bulldogs go from here?
Humphrey becomes Georgia’s 22nd commitment in the 2022 class. The Bulldogs now have four defensive backs on the commit list in Humphrey, 4-star CB Marquis Groves-Killebrew, 5-star safety Malaki Starks, and 4-star STAR JaCorey Thomas.
The Bulldogs are still recruiting two more elite defensive backs in five-star CB Jaheim Singletary and five-star safety Kamari Wilson.
Humphrey is ranked as the No. 12 CB, No. 17 player in Texas, and the No. 94 overall prospect in the 2022 class.
