ATHENS - Georgia Bulldogs redshirt freshman receiver Ladd McConkey has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week following the Bulldogs’ 34-10 win at No. 18 Auburn, according to a league announcement.
This marks the eighth weekly honor for the Bulldogs this season and the first for McConkey in his career. Other winners include: senior Devonte Wyatt (Defensive Lineman, Arkansas), freshman Brock Bowers (Freshman, Vanderbilt), junior Nolan Smith (Defensive Player, South Carolina), freshman Adonai Mitchell (Freshman, South Carolina), senior Stetson Bennett (Offensive Player, UAB), senior Christopher Smith (Defensive Player, Clemson) and senior Jordan Davis (Defensive Lineman, Clemson).
McConkey, a native of Chatsworth, Ga., posted career highs of five catches for 135 yards and a touchdown to pace the Bulldogs’ offense during their sixth win of the year. His performance included a career-long 60-yard touchdown in the third quarter that put the game out of reach for the Tigers at 24-3.
The No. 1 Bulldogs (6-0, 4-0 SEC) play host to No. 11 Kentucky (6-0, 4-0) on Saturday. CBS will televise the matchup at 3:30 p.m. ESPN College GameDay will be on campus for the second time in three weeks and SEC Nation will also be in Athens for the first time since the 2019 season.
