ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldog can always count on Dawg fans to support the program no matter where the game is played.
There was no “light show” for Georgia Bulldog fans to celebrate with going into the 4th quarter, but Dawg Nation still celebrated in big fashion after the 3rd quarter. There was a lot for Bulldog fans to be happy about as they went into the final quarter of their game against Kentucky with a comfortable 24-7 lead.
Other halftime notes:
*Dominating Day For The Defense: Georgia came in leading the nation in Scoring Defense at 5.5 points per game. At half, Georgia led 14-7 as the Bulldogs now have given up just 40 points on the year. UK was only the second team to score a TD in the red zone this season in nine trips. It capped a 75-yard drive in 14 plays that took 6:42. At the half, the leading tackler was sophomore Jalen Carter with a career-high six tackles, 2.5 TFL and a sack. UK had 188 yards of total offense (38-rush, 150-pass) on 33 plays.
*Bennett Leads Bulldogs At The Half: Georgia QB senior Stetson Bennett got the start for the third straight week and fourth overall this season. He finished the first half 5-for-10 for 76 yards and 1 TD with Georgia up 14-7. He completed a 19-yard TD pass to senior RB James Cook on 3rd and 4 for a 7-0 lead with 14:54 left in the 2nd quarter. The Bulldogs had 186 yards of total offense (110-rush, 76-passing).
*Rushing Attack: Georgia tallied 110 rushing yards on 14 attempts for a 7.9 average. In the first half, sophomore Kendall Milton had a career-long 35-yard run, which was the longest by a Bulldog this year. Senior Zamir White (7 rushes, 32 yards) notched his team-leading seventh rushing TD, a 24-yarder to put Georgia in front 14-0 with 10:35 left in the first half. It capped a 5 play, 80-yarad drive in 2:11. Also, senior James Cook (2 rushes, 17 yards) had his second TD catch of the year and fourth of his career to give the Bulldogs an early lead. The pass covered 19 yards.
*Array Of Targets: Georgia completed a total of five passes in the first half to four different receivers with true freshman Adonai Mitchell the leader with two for 21 yards.
*Special Teams Summary: Senior punter Jake Camarda finished with three punts for a 51.3 average including a season-long 63-yarder and one for 50 yards that was downed at the five by freshman Kamari Lassiter. Junior Jack Podlesny was 2-for-2 on PATs. He is 32-for-32 in PATs this year
*For Starters & Game Captains: Georgia had one first-time starter in Dan Jackson (DB). The captains were junior Nakobe Dean (LB), junior Travon Walker (DL) and senior Zamir White (RB). Georgia won the toss and elected to defer the football until the second half.
*Homecoming: Today Georgia celebrated Homecoming and at halftime, the King and Queen were announced. They were fourth year students Carter Marks (St. Simons Island, Management and Economics major) and senior Carley Hale (Atlanta, Exercise & Sports Science major).
