ATHENS - The No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs have been listed as major favorites over the Kentucky Wildcats for the game on October 16, 2021 in Sanford Stadium.
Bookmakers opened with Georgia as a considerable 22.5-point favorite on FanDuel to beat the No. 11 Wildcats, who took out LSU Saturday night in Lexington.
While considerable, the line does not guarantee success for the Bulldogs. That line indicates the Bulldogs have around an 88% chance to win the contest. Georgia has been a two-touchdown favorite or more 59 times since the 2010 season. They are 57-2 in those contests straight up (2016 Vanderbilt, +14; 2019 South Carolina, +21).
Georgia has won 11 games in a row against the Cats. The last Kentucky win over Georgia game in 2009 in Athens. Only once in that time have both the Dawgs and Cats come into the game ranked - that was the 2018 game in Lexington where No. 6 Georgia beat No. 11 Kentucky 34-17 with the SEC East on the line.
The Dawgs were a 9.5-point favorite over the Cats in that game. Over 4 million viewers watched that game on CBS. That game stands as the most-watched game between the two old foes in series history.
Meanwhile, it was annouced Sunday that ESPN’s College Gameday will broadcast from Athens. This is the second visit to Athens in the past three weeks for GameDay. On Oct. 2, the show originated from Meyers Quad before the Bulldogs’ top-10 matchup against Arkansas. This is Gameday’s seventh visit all-time to Athens.
