Georgia Bulldogs Announce 2022 Football Schedule

ATHENS - Georgia head coach Kirby Smart and his Georgia Bulldogs will open their season in Atlanta in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game against Oregon.
“Georgia-Clemson was epic, and there was a lot at stake. I think you could have that same feeling next year. I applaud Georgia for playing these games. I would rather play in those games than play a direction school,” Kirk Herbstreit said Tuesday of the game.
That’s how Georgia’s 129th season of college football will start - against what will likely be a highly-ranked Oregon team playing Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The regular season will conclude with the Bulldogs’ 113th contest against Georgia Tech in Athens. It will be the Yellow Jackets’ first trip to Sanford Stadium since 2018.
Georgia, along with the SEC, announced schedules for the 2022 football season on Tuesday. It is one of the final seasons before the Bulldogs and the rest of the SEC welcome Texas and Oklahoma into the league - a fundamental shift in the landscape of college athletics that is already being felt.
Along the way in 2022, Georgia will play traditional rivals Florida and Auburn. As usual, the game with the Gators will be held in Jacksonville. 2022 will be the 99th edition of that game.
"Maybe the best game around Halloween," former Gator WR Chris Doering said. "I love the visual. You can talk whatever you want about the whiteout at Penn State, but the visual of coming over the bridge (in Jacksonville) seeing the orange and blue and red and black."
The Bulldogs’ presumed 126th game against Auburn will be in Athens. Home games with Samford and Kent State will come Between the Hedges in September.
Home dates with Tennessee and Vanderbilt are the other two conference games in Athens in 2022. The Dawgs’ other SEC games will be on the road at South Carolina, Kentucky, State and Missouri.
