Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are just a few days away from taking on No.3 Clemson in Charlotte to kick off the 2021 season.

There’s going to be lots of five-stars on the field, and there’s going to be plenty of five-stars up in the stands as well. 

One of them is five-star running back, Rueben Owens‍.

The No.2 running back prospects in the 2023 class, Owens is a former Texas commitment who opened up his recruitment in mid-June. The self-proclaimed “Black Unicorn” earned his offer from Georgia in January of 2020 and the El Camp (TX) star told Dawg Post that he has a great relationship with running backs coach Dell McGee.

“Georgia’s still recruiting me hard”, Owens told Dawg Post.  “Coach McGee is my guy. I really like his passion and how much he cares for his players. It’s more than football with him. I feel he can help me become a great man and a better football player. What makes him such a good recruiter is his consistency with building a relationship. Coach McGee offered me in the 9th grade & we’ve stayed in touch since.”

Owens knows all about the running back tradition at Georgia and knows he’ll be in good hands if he chose to “Commit to the G”. The 2023 class is loaded with talented backs across the country and Owens is one of the very best. He holds offers from Georgia, Texas, Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, among others.

At 5-foot-11 190-pounds, Owens is both a speed and power back for his Texas squad. He’s been a major prospect for over a year and a half now and has been known across Texas since the beginning of his high school career.

Other 2023 running back targets to know are five-star Richard Young‍ and four-star Justice Haynes‍.

Owens is ranked as the No.2 RB prospect in the country, the No.5 prospect in Texas, and the No.27 overall prospect in the country for the 2023 class.
