Georgia Bulldogs Make "Top 5" For In-State LB Target
Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs got more good news on the recruiting trail today as they made the “Top 5” for one of their top linebacker targets in the 2022 class.
That would be three-star Carlton Madden of Cedar Grove (GA).
This comes as no surprise to Dawg Post members as the Bulldogs have been towards the top of Madden’s list ever since he earned an offer from the in-state program during an on-campus workout on June 17th.
Madden released his “Top 5” today via Twitter that included Georgia, Oregon, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Colorado.
The 6-foot-3 240-pounder was committed to Colorado when the Bulldogs offered, and it didn’t take long for Madden to open up his recruitment. He de-committed from Colorado just four days later on June 21st, and sources told Dawg Post that the Bulldogs were the team to beat moving forward.
It was a big month of June for Madden, but he’s had a nice end of July as well. Since July 29, Madden has earned offers from Oregon, Tennessee and Auburn.
The three-star prospect has limited film for a rising senior, but his length and athleticism in camps this summer has made him one of the hottest prospects in Georgia over the last six weeks. Sources say Madden quickly shot up Georgia’s board after his June visit, and if he wanted to jump on board and commit, sources say he would be welcomed with open arms.
As of now, Madden plans to make a commitment on September 18th.
