ATHENS - Tom Crean’s Georgia Bulldogs got a shot in the arm Monday with the transfer of Jabri Abdur-Rahim into the program.
Abdur-Rahim’s father, Shareef, was one of the top high school basketball players in Georgia history. Amir, Abdur-Rahim’s uncle, was an assistant under Crean during his first few years at UGA. Abdur-Rahim’s only played in eight games this past season for Virginia - the program he’s transferring from.
A 6-7 guard, Abdur-Rahim was the New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year in 2018-19. He and his family posted an image of him in a Georgia uniform on Monday. His mother Dee Dee posted on instagram saying: “Reset button...& going home!!”
Abdur-Rahim scored 16 points a game and grabbed 8.7 rebounds a contest to lead Blair Academy to a 28-3 record and New Jersey Prep A State championship.
