ATHENS - The Georgia Bulldogs were on full display for all of the NFL to see - and there was much to see.

From underdogs, to blazing 40-yard dashes to squeal meat - Georgia’s pro day had it all. The spotlight was on three Georgia players, and for the most part they helped themselves. Azeez Ojulari, who is considered the top prospect of the Bulldogs in 2021, seemed to lock in a first-round pick with his day.

“I believe (today) helped me. I think I came out and showed them,” Ojulari said of his performance today. “I took nutrition and everything seriously, and it paid off for me.”

Ojulari was the focus of a lot of the SEC Network’s coverage of the day. He checked in just over 6-2, 249 pounds, had a 10-7 broad jump, a 40-yard dash in the low to mid 4.6 range and 28 reps on the bench.

“When you rank tough players Azeez is really high,” Smart said. “He makes your whole team better, but he’s also talented. Every team I talked to probably they first question I got was about where he would play."

Meanwhile cornerbacks Eric Stokes and Tyson Campbell appeared to put up numbers that should help them when the draft rolls around. Stokes backed up his extremely fast time earlier in the year with and unofficial time of 4.25 in the 40-yard dash. Campbell clocked in at an unofficial 4.42. Stokes appeared to have numerous drops during his position drills, which he said frustrated him.

“All the speed and stuff is great. I don’t care about all of the good stuff I did today,” Stokes said. “(The drops) are going to eat me alive the most.”

The question is if the speed will outweigh the drops. After all, Stokes was second in the SEC in interceptions in 2020.

“Speed, speed and more speed - that’s what he brings,” Kirby Smart said about Stokes. “He’s meant a lot to our organization. Not many people know the story and backdrop of Stokes. I can’t tell you how many times I went to go back and watch him at camp. We just thought he was a raw talented player. The tape speaks for itself. He developed. Mel Tucker was very patent with him. He was a hard-nosed get better player. He kept getting better. He was always fast, but he got better where he needed to.”

Ben Cleveland claimed that a diet that consisted at least in part of squirrel meat (seriously) helped him trim down for the day, and led to an unofficial 4.85 40-yard dash, which raised eyebrows in a way that many expected his bench press number to mimic.

“I felt like today went really well,” Cleveland said. “There was a video that said that they stopped me at 50 - that was never true, but I decided to roll with it and hype it up. I was a little disappointed in myself (in the bench). I can only do what I can do. In the end I didn’t let myself of my family down.”

Smart said he’s known Cleveland since he was in 9th grade, and that one NFL franchise will get a powerful big man with ideal abilities.

“They are gettin the man, the myth, the legend himself. He’s played a lot of football here, and practiced a lot of football. He meets all of the criteria. He’s a hard man to get past,” Smart said of the NFL’s pass-happy offenses.

Smart went on to say that he was happy to see this group of players, all of whom were recruited and signed from the time Smart took over in 2016, get to their pro day.

“This group is special to me. They are all ours. I am proud of them. I am excited for all of them. It is one of the biggest days of your life,” he said.
