Dawgs Land Commitment From In-State 2022 LB Donovan Westmoreland

The Georgia Bulldogs continue to roll on the recruiting trail as the land a commitment from three-star LB Donovan Westmoreland.
The pass rushing outside linebacker from Griffin is 6-foot-2 215-pounds and chose Georgia over Georgia Tech, Louisville, Maryland, among others.
“I love the energy that UGA brings to the table. It matches me because I’m a very ecstatic type of person.”
“I love the coaches there,” Westmoreland told Dawg Post. “I have a special connection with coach Lanning and coach Cochran at UGA. Everyone virtually showed me around the facility and gave me a brief summary on how they are going to make me better as a man and as an athlete. I love the program and how they conduct themselves. I felt like it was the best fit for me. Even though I wasn’t at the school it felt like I was there and it felt wonderful. Another reason why I think this is a great fit for me is because UGA had some top edge rushers going into the league and I want to be part of that list.”
Westmoreland is coming off a massive season for the Bears where he made 84 tackles and 12 sacks. He’s athletic and has a number of different ways to attack the QB. He can put his hand in the ground right now but will have to continue adding weight and muscle to play on the line at the next level.
He’s quick off the ball, knows how to get off blocks, and he knows how to tackle. The Bulldogs extended an offwr early in the season aftewr Westmoreland got off to a strong start in the 2022 season.
Griffin defensive coordinator Ryan Andrews also had some words for his star defender.
“He had an extremely high ceiling”, Andrews told Dawg Post. “This was his 1st year playing the position and he accumulated 12 sacks and 84 tackles. As he continues to develop his pass rush arsenal, he has a chance to play on Sundays. His 1st step is unbelievable. Quick hands. Does a great job at the point of attack against the run.”
