ATHENS - The Georgia Bulldogs quarterback JT Daniels confirmed on Tuesday that he will return to Kirby Smart’s program at UGA.

“Found my new home. Now we got unfinished business. Go Dawgs 2021,” he said on social media Tuesday.

The post confirms what Daniels seemed to suggest on Monday, when he appeared to indicated the he would remain at Georgia for the 2021 season. The confirmation sets up the Bulldogs as one of the top teams to contend for the SEC and national title this fall.

Daniels’ return means the. Bulldogs won’t have to figure out who will start the season opener in Charlotte against Clemson - a matchup that will set the stage for the national title race that will ensue later this year.

Daniels has only started four games for the Bulldogs, but those games saw a significant increase in offensive productivity. Georgia went 4-0 with Daniels as the starting single caller and scored over 30 points in all but one of those games. In three of those game Daniels threw for 299 yards or more.

Daniels ended the 2021 Peach Bowl with a game-winning drive, which was the culmination of a 392-yard performance on New Year’s Day. His play at the end of the season has the Bulldogs poised to end the season as a top-seven team, and probably puts the Bulldogs in the top five for the 2021 season. This move cements the Dawgs’ status as the team to beat in the SEC East in 2021.

“Unfinished Business”.

That’s the theme so far for the Georgia Bulldogs in 2021. JTD is one of three Bulldogs to say Tuesday they will return to the program for the fall. Dawg Post wrote on Monday about Daniels likely coming back for a another year and the former 5-star made it official today. Daniels started Georgia’s final four games of the 2020 season after recovering from a knee injury. The former 5-star and USC transfer gave Georgia’s offense a jolt in the second half of the season where he threw for over 400 yards games in two of Georgia’s final four games. On the season, Daniels was 80 of 119 for 1,231 yards and 10 TDs. More importantly, the Bulldogs won every game that he started in during the 2020 season, and they’ll have a QB in 2021 who has the potential to take them back to the SEC Championship game and beyond.
