BREAKING: 4-star JUCO CB DJ Daniel Flips To Georgia
After committing to South Carolina over Georgia this summer, Junior college cornerback D.J. Daniel, a Georgia native, flipped to Kirby Smart and his home-state school publicly this afternoon.
So what is Georgia getting in Daniel?
“Speed most of all,” Dawg Post recruiting analyst Matt DeBary said of the 6-foot, 180-pound defensive back. “Daniel doesn't have elite size, but he has great speed and instincts for the position. He's a solid cover corner with good technique. That has helped him him become the nation's No. 2 JUCO cornerback in the country.”
Although he’s smaller than ideal size for the Bulldogs, DeBary says that Daniel can be aggressive when he needs to.
“He doesn't mind hitting. He's a physical guy who makes receivers work for everything they get,” DeBary said. “Daniel has the mentality coaches look for in a defensive back - someone who won't back down and loves to compete.”
The Bulldogs are now inching closer to completing their 2019 class now that Daniel has publicly committed.
“Daniel was a longtime Georgia lean before committing to Carolina, but he had offers from Alabama, Auburn, and some others,” DeBary said.
The Bulldogs now have 17 commitments in the 2019 class.
