Georgia Bulldogs to Play in 2021 Peach Bowl in Atlanta

ATHENS - The Georgia Bulldogs and coach UGA coach Kirby Smart have accepted a bid to the 2021 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.
The Bulldogs will take on the Cincinnati Bearcats in the game, which will kick at 12:30 PM on New Year’s Day from the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. This is the Bulldogs’ fourth New Year’s Six bowl game in four years under Smart. It is the first time the Bulldogs have played in the Peach Bowl since the bowl game was moved into the rotation of New Year’s Six ball games.
The selection of the Bulldogs to the Peach Bowl was expected as was the Bearcats, who come into the game as conference champions, ranked in the top ten and undefeated.
The Bulldogs have caught fire of late - having won their last two games in blowout fashion. Georgia has swiftly moved up the College Football Playoff rankings. ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit said Sunday that Georgia was as hot as anyone in the country playing right now.
“I am going to stand up for two teams that are not on these graphics,” Herbstreit said from a studio. “Georgia and Oklahoma. If you want to put teams on the field here at the end of the season that you don’t want to play - I don’t know about you guys, but Georgia right now with JT Daniels… Oklahoma.”
Now Cincinnati will get its chance to make a splash in the world of college football after winning on the last play of the game at home Saturday night to clinch its conference title.
The Peach Bowl is getting ready to host teams this winter with a flexible, shortened bowl schedule. Bowl games often have days of activities for teams, but Peach Bowl CEO Gary Stokan told Dawg Post Thursday that teams selected for the Atlanta-based bowl will have the option to practice either once or twice in Mercedes-Benz Stadium before the game.
