D'Wan Mathis Enters NCAA Transfer Portal

ATHENS - UGA coach Kirby Smart confirmed that UGA QB D'Wan Mathis has entered the transfer portal.

The move brings to an end an up-and-down career at UGA which involved Mathis being sidelined with a brain cyst a year ago and starting in the season opener against Arkansas earlier this year. 

Mathis never got traction at the spot. His departure comes a week after Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs started JT Daniels against Mississippi State. 

UGA coach Kirby Smart confirmed the news on Monday with reporters. 

“D'Wan Mathis didn't want to be a destruction for the team. He was disappointed for the news to come out before the game. He wanted it to come out today.”
