ATHENS - Georgia has the most-watched game of the college football season so far.
Georgia’s blowout win over Tennessee on Saturday was watched by more than 5.7 million viewers on CBS. While college football TV viewership is down 30% for the season so far, the Bulldogs have continued to move forward with its loyal audience.
The 2020 Georgia-UT game is the most-watched game between the two programs in recorded history. It tops the 2013 overtime version of the game that pulled in 5,610,000. Georgia-UT has averaged just above 4.6 million viewers since 2012, but Saturday’s game is only the second in that time (2016) to have featured two ranked teams.
Georgia continues to be one of the strongest brands in college football. Nearly 10 million viewers have watched Georgia so far this year in the two games that have been rated.
The Georgia-Alabama game, which is still slated to be a primetime affair on CBS, is one of the most highly-anticipated games of the college football season. Georgia and Alabama did not have a viewership under 7 million viewers in the last decade.
