ATHENS - The New York Giants took UGA OL Andrew Thomas with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft Thursday night.

If is the second year in a row the Giants have selected a Bulldog in the first round. Last year New York took UGA DB Deandre Baker. At No. 4 overall, Thomas is the highest-picked Bulldog since WR A.J. Green was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2011.

Thomas was expected to go in the first round. After three years as a starting offensive lineman, Thomas was considered one of the top NFL prospects in the country. He was a five-star prospect coming out of Pace Academy in Atlanta in 2017.

He ended his career at UGA as a Walter Camp All-America 1st Team. He was the first UGA lineman in 21 years to win the SEC’s Jacobs Blocking Trophy. Thomas was named one of four permanent team captains for the 2019 season.

At No. 4 overall Thomas is now the highest-selected offensive lineman in UGA history.
