Elite 5-Star Puts UGA in His Top 3
ATHENS - One of the top prospects in the country has UGA in his top three.
James Williams, a 5-star defensive back from American Heritage in South Florida, said that the Dawgs, Clemson and Alabama are his top three.
“Williams is a hard-hitting safety with elite size,” Dawg Post recruiting analyst Matt DeBary. “He’s been a top Georgia target from the start. Has visited numerous times in the past 12 months. Georgia is most likely the team to beat in his recruitment.”
Georgia has had a lot of success recruiting South Florida in the recent past. Three players have from American Heritage have played for the Dawgs since 2014 - most notable 5-star RB Sony Michel.
Williams is considered a top-ten prospect in the class of 2021 by recruiting services. He would be a good start to the Dawgs’ efforts to try to get the No. 1 overall recruiting class for the third time in four years. Georgia already has a major committed player, 5-star Prince Avenue QB Brock Vandagriff, in the 2021 class. David Daniel, a four-star prospect from Woodstock, has a real shot at becoming a five-star prospect before signing with the Bulldogs.
At 6-5, 218, Williams is one of the best prospects in the country, according to Dawg Post recruiting analyst Matt DeBary.
“He can step up and play in the box against the run. He’s long and athletic,” DeBary said. He’s a different type of safety than Georgia has right now. He’s one of the top overall prospects in the country. Williams is the real deal.”
