5-star QB Set To Visit UGA This Weekend
As we reported earlier this week, 5-star QB Brock Vandagriff, one of the nation’s top overall prospects, plans to visit Georgia this upcoming weekend.
The big 6-foot-3 210-pounder de-committed from Oklahoma on January 1 and is one of the top overall targets for the Georgia staff in the 2021 class.
The gunslinger chose the Sooners over the Bulldogs originally last summer on June 20th, but now that he’s back on the market, sources tell Dawg Post that the Bulldogs could be the team to beat moving forward.
Vandagriff claimed that distance was a big reason for his de-commitment from Oklahoma, and admitted that he would like to play closer to home so his family could see him play. The Prince Avenue Christian (GA) star lives right down the road from Athens, so the Bulldogs certainly have the edge from a location perspective. Vandagriff has a family connection to Auburn, and sources say the Tigers are still in the mix as well. The Gators offered early and have made him a priority as well, but we believe the home-state Bulldogs are in the best spot to land his commitment.
When could that happen?
Likely sooner than later. Sources say the five-star wants to make a commitment before his senior season, so if he has a good idea of where he wants to commit already, Dawg Post feels he could make a commitment sometime this spring. Dawg Post has been told he wants to get the recruiting process over with and wants to help recruit players to join him in his class.
One of those players Vandagriff is hoping to join him is five-star tackle Amarius Mims, who also plans to be in Athens this weekend. Dawg Post expects the two to spend a good amount of time together on their visit.
Other notable visitors this weekend include...
5-star CB Isaiah Johnson
5-star CB Tony Grimes
4-star LB Barrett Carter
4-star CB Jordan Hancock
3-star TE Miles Campbell
4-star RB Cody Bown
