ATHENS - UGA will be losing an All-American safety this off-season with the departure of JR Reed. Thankfully for the Bulldogs though, they won't be losing another one of their star safeties.

In an announcement made on his Twitter account, Richard LeCounte announced that he would be returning to Athens to pick up his fourth year of eligibility.

It was a decision that seemed up in the air for LeCounte. NFL Draft Analysts had him as high as the third round, making the option lucrative. But in the end, the former five-star decided it was best to finish out his career in Athens.

The production that Georgia gets with him will be indispensable. This season, LeCounte came up with four interceptions, with several of them coming in huge moments for the Bulldogs. On top of that, he also produced 61 total tackles this season and 74 last season.

Most importantly though, LeCounte has emerged as a huge leader for UGA and its defense. As an experienced player with three seasons under his belt, he will be able to bring an immense amount of knowledge and experience to Georgia’s 2020 defense.
