Swift Decides to Turn Pro
ATHENS - D'Andre Swift has played his final snap as a Georgia Bulldog.
The junior running back announced on Friday that he would forego his senior season and entering the 2020 NFL Draft. Offensive linemen Andrew Thomas Isaiah Wilson also announced that they were leaving for the NFL in December.
Swift was expected to jump to the NFL after a stellar junior season that saw him average over 100 yards a game in the regular season. A shoulder injury slowed him to only two carries in the SEC Championship Game against LSU.
Swift came to Athens expected to play a lot his freshman season, but the unexpected return of Nick Chubb and Sony Michel in 2017 meant he was often used as a home-run hitting back. His late-game touchdown against Auburn in the 2017 SEC Championship Game sealed the Bulldogs first SEC title since 2005, and sent the program to only its second Rose Bowl Game in school history.
