UGA's Win Over the Gators Most-Watched Cocktail Party in Decades (Probably Ever)
ATHENS - Nearly 7 million people watched Georgia beat the Gators in a top-ten matchup over the weekend.
That’s according to numbers CBS released on Tuesday. That makes it the most-watched Cocktail Party since at least 1988, the network said - and likely in history.
UGA has now played in two of the top-five games of the season so far in college football. LSU and Texas are also in the select group that have drawn huge TV numbers twice this season.
1. Georgia-Notre Dame - 9.29M
2. LSU-Texas - 8.63M
3. Oklahoma-Texas - 7.25M
4. Auburn-LSU - 7.18M
5. Georgia-Florida - 6.98M
“Georgia-Florida was the most-watched meeting between the teams in 32 years* and delivered a +10% increase in viewership versus last year’s game (6.372 million),” the network said in a release.
Alabama fans continued to hate watch UGA, as the Birmingham market drew a 24.3 rating - in front of the UGA-dominated Atlanta market (22.1).
