Kirby Confirms Isaiah Wilson Out with Ankle Injury
ATHENS - UGA coach Kirby Smart confirmed that Isaiah Wilson will miss some time with an ankle injury.
“Isaiah’s a tough guy, and we think he is going to be OK, but we’ll keep on driving, keep on moving,” Kirby said on his Thursday night radio show.
It is the first time in his career that Wilson will miss a game. He had started the previous 15 games he played in. Insiders say that Cade Mays will start in his place at right tackle on Saturday.
“We have a lot of guys who have played there. We have kind of dealt with the same kind of injury last year with Andrew (Thomas),” Kirby said. “It is frustrating for (Wilson). It’s frustrating anytime, but when you’re in the trenches that is what happens. It is hard replacing tackles. They are just hard body types to find.”
Still, the Bulldogs have recruited as well as anyone on the offensive line in the country. UGA insiders say Wilson could miss anywhere from two to three weeks with the ankle injury.
