2021 ATH Chief Borders Talks Georgia Offer
Spring is the time where prospects can really see their recruitment start to take off, and that has started to happen to 2021 linebacker Chief Borders of McEachern (GA).
The 6-foot-4 223-pounder participated in a 7-on-7 tournament in Athens earlier this week and earned an offer personally from co-defensive coordinator Dan Lanning.
“It’s a blessing to be offered by Georgia,” Borders said. “Coach Lanning is a really cool guy and he’s all about business and winning. Coach Smart is the same way. They’re genuine guys and they know what it takes to win.”
Borders has had a big spring during the camp circuit, earning “top performer” honors earlier this year at the Lovejoy MVP Camp. Borders has good size and could play multiple positions at the next level. His position will likely be at linebacker, and that’s where he stood out in Athens.
Dell McGee and the rest of the Georgia staff has had their eye on Borders for some time now, and. he earned the offer after the coaches were able to see him in person.
The former Chicago native admitted that he has grown a ton not only physically, but as a football player as well since he’s come down to the Atlanta area. He’s a smart, humble, and hard-working kid who is expected to have a monster junior season for the Indians this fall.
Borders now holds offers from Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida, Auburn, among others.
The one offer he still wants?
That would be the Oregon Ducks.
Either way, Borders is looking for a “family feel” and somewhere where he can not only be comfortable for four years, but be prepared for the next level on the football field.
