Bulldogs Offer 2022 In-State Quarterback
There’s something special about the 2022 quarterback class in Georgia.
That might seem like light years away for most Georgia fans, but it’s not too soon for Kirby Smart and his staff.
The Georgia staff offered rising sophomore quarterback MJ Morris of Carrollton (GA), making it the second in-state offer to a 2022 quarterback. The other is elite Rabun County (GA) gunslinger Gunner Stockton.
There might not be a Trevor Lawrence of Justin Fields in this class, but this 2022 group is expected to be the best in-state quarterback class since that incredible 2018 squad.
Morris, who Dawg Post saw in person back in February, is a great athlete who brings a lot of playmaking ability to the position. After taking over during his freshman season, the 6-foot-2 175-pounder will have an opportunity to bring a state championship to Carrollton for the next three seasons. He’s smart, mobile, and has a very strong arm for someone his size. He’s not the biggest guy just yet, but he still has plenty of time to grow and fill out properly. As he continues to develop, Dawg Post expects Morris to be a highly ranked player in that particular 2022 class.
Like Morris, Stockton is also primed to be one of the higher-ranked quarterbacks nationally in the 2022 class. The 6-foot-2 200-pounder has elite footwork and mechanics for someone his age and has no problem slinging the ball downfield. He had an extremely productive freshman season last fall and earned early offers from Georgia, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, among others.
Other 2022 QBs in Georgia to know are Holden Geriner (Benedictine), Zak Rozsman (Walton), AJ Swann (Cherokee), and Banks Atkins (Blessed Trinity).
