This was a to let us know how far we are from being a SEC competitive team. Folks, we are a long way. We have to get better athletes to play defense in this league. Vanderbilt got every shot they wanted from every position they wanted. Our guards are undersized and our forwards except for Miyah Verse, the footwork on defense is terrible. They got layups all day and it was really bad. I will say it again, this year should be training for the Freshmen. Coach Abe is going to have to evaluate some of the players who will return next year. She can't afford to have 3 losing season in a row.

Vandy was very impressive. If you look up their schedule and record, you will see they score a lot of points on everyone. They should be right at the top of the sec if they stay healthy. Very impressive players. We grew up a little during this game. Keep the faith for the future.

Our first half play was disappointing, but I thought we battled hard in the 2nd half. Verse and Woolfolk look ready to compete in the SEC. Our freshman guards struggled, but Vandy's strength is perimeter defense/turnovers so it didn't surprise me. Tough first game matchup for us on the road.

Side note - I think the Tennessee vs Vandy game will be a fun watch this year because of their style of play.

Vandy scored 108 points on UGA very easy. UGA defense is not good at all because Coach Abe doesn't coach them hard enough for defense. Vandy was getting a lot of none contested shots around the free throw line. And then the perimeter shooters were shooting threes like they were warming up. Our bigs doesn't have good feet except for Miyah Verse and Woolfolk is on one leg. Our guards are undersize. This team is just trying to compete in the toughest conference. I want to see UGA win like everyone else, but we are in a time when the least talented team will lose. I am just hoping to see the returning players get better for next year. We have some talent coming in next year and they will bring size and skill. Coach Abe needs to teach one on one defense because you can't expect teams to miss shots. It is a different day and you can't sit back in a zone. Now Vandy beat UGA easy, but the 2 toughest teams they have played is South Florida which they won in by 10 points and a lost to Michigan State which they lost by more than 10. Both cases they scored around 70 points. They will not finish in the 4 of the SEC or 6. That is an indication that UGA will finish near the bottom. We are in a complete rebuild and there is no other way to say it. Our program has fallen to the bottom.

I watched most of the game. The turnovers had me screaming at the TV. Once again freshmen get a passed but the seniors do not.

Verse needs to develop a midrange shot. She does not need to shoot the three but if she can develop that it would be great.

Mia is the real deal. I am looking forward to watching her develop for the next four years.

The twins get a pass but I did like their fight and when the one got hit in the face, she was ready to battle.

The main freshman that get a pass is Turner. She had a really bad game and teams are starting to take away what she does best. She will have to adjust and learn.

Fatima still have a ways to go but when she is in the game, the team cannot play man defense. Teams bring her out and go right by her.

Asia needs to shoot more.

De' Mauri turnovers are awful.

Roxane needs a shot. Maybe I put too much on development but in your 3rd of college ball, you should have a jump shot if you dont have one.

To me Evans has taken a step back.

Vandy gym is awful. It also amazes me how the team that is more aggressive, get less fouls called. We have to learn how to handle pressure and the press. We need to attack more and hit a dang layup.

I love Coach Abe and her staff. She needs at least four years to right this ship. I think we are headed in the right direction. Changing coaches before her four years will set us back even more.

I think she will have us in good position in less than two years. The matchup zone the team played her first year here was incredible. I've never seen one any better. We came within a hair of beating the national champion LSU team at their place in double overtime if I remember correctly. We also almost beat Iowa at their place in the NCAA tournament and they finished runner up for the national title. And coach Abe did not have one great difference maker on her team. If she somehow got some difference makers to go with her four stars, we could win it all. I think she is that good of a coach. I know most people want us to fire a coach after every loss. But not me.

Next four games are really important for us. @Florda, Missouri, Miss St, and @A&M. This is the less strenuous stretch of conference games for us.

It starts today against Florida.
