On the heels of comment by Monk that White needs to create a identify/style, we totally reversed course and went ground and pound in the paint v. our season long chuck and duck from three land. And against a larger Ole Miss squad.

I'll give White credit for trying something. And I wonder how much the late emergence of Dylan James influenced this, as he just missed a double double.

I'll take the Dub however I can get them . . .

Really happy to see James out on the court. He gives us different things from other posts. He's got more skills and is more versatile. I guess White's hand was forced a bit with Jabri's injury. Actually, I think Jabri being out improved our team defense and rebounding, and we didn't have to watch quite so many missed 3s. Jabri has been way off on his perimeter shooting this season. I hate shooting all those 3s myself. We just don't have sufficiently good enough shooters to play that way. This game was more of what this team should be IMHO. I don't ever want to abandon the post play. Basketball is best played inside out....

Well I will be on this board more now since I just canceled at TOS. I don't mind reading comments about the underwhelming 2nd year of CMW, but don't want to pay for being "depressed" about another bottom 4 in the SEC and maybe struggle to get past .500 this seaon. I had so much hope for CMW, and even Crean, but getting tired of being let down almost every season, other than some Harrick's, since Tubby's Sweet 16.

On James. I don't get why he didn't get more PT earlier. It wasn't like the 4/5s were our strongest and deepest position. His increased PT now might, in part, be due to the transfer portal date approaching. White has to keep him at UGA.

The main reason we won against Ole Miss is the fact that Rahim did not play. He doesn't play good defense or rebound very well. He makes his free throws but is not talented enough to draw many fouls. He takes about ten three pointers a game but missed nearly all of them.

I don't have any insight into why James was playing more early. I know White was very high on him coming in. He considered him a great shooter, though I haven't seen enough from him yet to indicate that is true. His shot has a bit of a hitch in it. I'm gonna go back and watch our last game and look a bit closer. White may have just felt that James didn't know the plays or, more likely, his defensive responsibilities to play him earlier.

Here's what White said on James:

"He came to Georgia as a high basketball IQ, skilled, step out. shooting post player. He's developed his toughness, his motor, he's playing more athletically, he's learned how to play harder. He's adjusted to this level. It's taken a little time, as it does for every freshman in this league, especially this week, and he's playing his best basketball at the end of his freshman year. Go again. Another example, we go four-of-21 as a team. He and Blue Cain, as two freshmen, both go 0-for-3 and 0-for-3, but played as hard as they played all season. And again, you can play quality minutes, you can play winning minutes. You can help add to a winning culture without having to make shots. I like to make shots; I like to make a bunch of them. Then you can be you can beat a bunch of people, but I'm proud of those guys' effort."

White needs to keep all 3 of these freshmen. If he doesn't, I'll be disappointed.

Being a UGA hoops fan ain't easy or for the weak of heart....

Without Jabri, we still only shot 19% from 3, which is just awful. We beat a strong inside team by going inside, surprisingly, outrebounding them 39-30. We must have shot well in the paint because our overall shooting % was 44%. And we shot 88% on FTs without Jabri, too.
