Asa Newell and Derrion Reid. They got to see Stegmania on Friday and a whale of an atmosphere Saturday night. Newell is the big fish in this class, and White has been recruiting him for years. I feel like we have to get Newell, and we are in good shape with him from what I hear. Reid, a Georgia native, is down to 3, but Bama and FSU may lead. I hope White and staff convinced Reid that he would be a star at UGA and get to play with Newell. They would be a helluva front court, though they may have some overlapping skills.

If we can somehow get Rooths and Newell, that would be the beginning of a fantastic class. Reid would be the icing on the cake.

A bit more info: I hear the staff is very confident on Newell. They have put a ton of effort into his recruitment. Newell is tight with Reid apparently. They both had a great weekend in Athens. Reid may be Bama or us. Oats is helluva recruiter, but I don't think much of him as a coach really. He gave Brandon Miller way too much freedom last year, and he had a great potential PG who hardly played and has since transferred to AZ. (That AZ backcourt will be really interesting this season.) I don't think Oats can develop players all that well. If Reid is really close to Newell and wants bad enough to play with him, we stand a chance. I think Reid and Rooths play basically the same position, so I'm not sure we could swing both, but you never know.

Also hearing the staff really likes their current freshmen class. Jordan, James, Cain and Demary each provide skills and athleticism. I expect most of them to get a good bit of run this year.
