Georgia fans who follow recruiting already know about Prince Avenue Christian (GA) quarterback, Brock Vandagriff‍.

He’s the local five-star quarterback commitment and one of the nation’s top-ranked overall prospects.

What Georgia fans might not know about Vandagriff is that he works with one of the most respected quarterback trainers in the country in the great, Ron Veal.

Veal trains some of the nation’s top quarterbacks, including Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, Vandagriff, and many more.

Dawg Post caught up with Veal recently to talk about Vandagriff’s potential and what makes him such a special prospect at quarterback.

“What makes his skill-set so unique is his overall athleticism,” Veal told Dawg Post. “His ability to run and throw. He can put defenses on their heels and they have to pick their poison. His accuracy is high, he’s tough, and he makes great decisions.”

Veal told Dawg Post that he’s been working with Vandagriff since the 5-star was in 8th grade. He admitted that Vandagriff has come a long way in just a few short years.

“His overall body development has improved the most”, Veal said. His size, weight, and strength. With that came his throwing ability, his accuracy increased, and he’s made great decisions with the ball. He’s also coached by his dad, so he helps with that end of it. His overall game has come together year after year.”

Vandagriff has proven that he can make all the throws, but Veal said there’s one throw in particular that he excels at.

“The ‘Bang 8’ (also known as a skinny post),” Veal said. “Either side, left or right. He can read the safety well.”

The 5-star told Dawg Post that he’s out throwing at least three times a week, doing everything he can to develop and perfect his craft.

So what have Vandagriff and Veal been working the most on in recent weeks?

“Just being more consistent with his drops”, Veal said. “Trying to get him off his toes and stay flat-footed with his cleats in the ground. Using his hips and legs more to drive the ball down the field. Just being clean with all that. He’s tough, man. He’s hard on himself which is good. He’s a baller. He comes at it 100%. With good health, the sky is the limit. He’s going to play with a good group of people at Georgia. He’s got a great receiving core. Great backs. A good offensive line and a great scheme. I just hope they use his full abilities.”

Vandagriff admitted that he’s excited to play in new offensive coordinator Todd Monken’s new system at Georgia. However, Veal believes Vandagriff’s tools could allow him to succeed in any style of offense at the next level.

“I think he can thrive in any style of offense”, Veal said. “His skill-set can be utilized in a lot of different offenses. In the spread offense, he can run it and throw it. He’s a threat with his legs. He just has to try and get down because he’ll try to run over somebody.”

While Vandagriff is getting bigger and bigger, the athleticism is still there, and he has no problem making a big play with his feet when he needs too. The arm talent is easy to notice, and a lot of that can be attributed to Ron Veal. While he might not want the credit or praise, Veal certainly deserves some. He also said if there’s one thing Georgia fans need to know about Vandagriff, it’s his work ethic.

“He works his tail off and he’s going to give it everything he’s got.”

While Vandagriff is far from a finished product, the work ethic, arm talent, mobility, and high football IQ should make Georgia fans very excited about the future.
