ATHENS - UGA Football fell from No. 1 football team in the country after a one-point win at Kentucky on Saturday night. Kirby Smart’s No. 2 Bulldogs have the week off before taking on No. 4 Alabama on the road.
Texas got 35 first-place votes to Georgia’s 23. Ohio State remained at No. 3. Alabama and Ole Miss closed out the top five. This is the first week of the year the Bulldogs have not been ranked as the top team in the land.
Georgia will play No. 4 Alabama, No. 1 Texas and No. 5 Ole Miss on the road this season. Meanwhile, Georgia will host No. 6 Tennesse in Athens later in the season. UGA defeated No. 21 Clemson 34-3 earlier this season.
On the year, the Bulldogs have allowed just 18 points on six field goals with UK booting four Saturday night. The Bulldogs came in ranked tied for fourth in the nation in Scoring Defense (3.0 ppg).
